She encouraged his study at Stanford, where he thought he might become a writer. For a while he made her San Francisco home his California headquarters. In 1940, when he had graduated from high school, his aunt, Edith Stephenson, encouraged him to move to California, which he did. Harvard was born in Broken Bow, Nebraska, on April 18, 1922. Willie leaves to cherish his precious memories, two sons, Charles (Jessie) Lomax of Birmingham, AL, and Marcus Andre’ Lomax of Grand Blanc, MI three daughters, Betty Rhodes of Birmingham, AL, Sheila Lomax of Grand Blanc, MI and Phyllis Lomax Patterson of Flint, MI three sisters, Rose Lomax, Lorraine Anderson, and Ida Harris, all of St. He loved to work in his garden, showing off the gigantic vegetables that were produced, listening to the Blues and watching sports, especially baseball. Willie was an employee of General Motors – Flint Metal Center, retiring in 1995 after 39 years of dedicated service. Willie was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church and prior, Christ the Liberator Presbyterian Church. ![]() On he married Annie Ruth Tucker and to this union, four children were born. He was educated in the Noxubee County Public School system in Mississippi. Willie accepted Christ as Savior, early in life.
